BENYU HAS CAPS UTD BOSSES SMILING AGAIN

Sports Reporter

KUNDAI Benyu, the Zimbabwe international midfielder who once played for Scottish giants Celtics just eight years ago, is making the CAPS United bosses believe again.

The 27-year-old midfielder was a surprise signing for the Green Machine, who will be chasing their first league title in nine years this year.

His arrival will boost a midfield, which already has the services of Tanaka Shandirwa, who ended his two-year dance with Dynamos and sought refuge at the Green Machine.

Shandirwa, whose stock has fallen in spectacular fashion as he battled indiscipline and off-the-field distractions, which culminated in a fight between his wife and girlfriend, believes Lloyd Chitembweโ€™s tough disciplinary regime will help him refocus on his game.

Benyu is also considered a temperamental player and might have chosen Chitembweโ€™s guidance for similar reasons after he decided to try and rediscover himself playing his football at home.

Benyu was born in London to Zimbabwean parents and chose to play for the Warriors.

On June 29, 2017, Benyu was signed by Scottish giants Celtic in what was supposed to be the biggest leap in his career.

However, he was sent on loan to Oldham, at the end of his first year at the club, before another loan deal to Helsingborgs in Sweden.

After another loan spell at Wealdstone, in the English lower leagues, he joined Vestri in Iceland.

CAPS United officials believe Benyu will be the ace in their park but, given it is his first time playing club football in Africa, he will probably need a bit of time to adjust.
