A SELF-STYLED prophet sold a car he had been given to cleanse evil spirits and now is now facing charges of theft of trust property.
Tatenda Kabende of Glen Norah is being accused of abusing the trust, which was invested in him by Christina Zevezai of Nyika, Bikita, who wanted his car to be cleansed of evil spirits.
The car’s value of US$8 000.
Kabende appeared before magistrate Isheanesu Matova yesterday to answer the charges.
The court heard that Zevezai gave her car to Kabende who was tasked with cleansing it of some evil spirits.
He directed Zevezai to leave the car at his accomplice’s house in Waterfalls.
Kabende picked it up and, instead of conducting the cleansing exercise, he sold the vehicle without the owner’s consent.
Kabende was released on US$100 bail.
Meanwhile, Bishop Danger appeared before the same court charged with possession of stolen property.
The court heard that on March 18, Danger was found in possession of the stolen Silver Nissan AD Van.
Bishop Danger was released on US$100 bail.
He was ordered not to interfere with witnesses until the matter is finalised.
The duo will be back in court on February 13.
