Arron Nyamayaro

A HOPLEY man broke into the house of a woman, whom he used to date after she separated with her husband, and raped her at knife point.

The woman and her husband have since reconciled.

Ironically, her husband was in the same house when the man, identified as Leeroy, broke in and attacked him before raping his wife at knife point.

The incident happened on Tuesday at around 11,30pm.

Two hours earlier, Leeroy had come to the same house and found the woman talking to her husband.

Leeroy said he had come to collect his bag of clothes.

He was given his clothes and he went away.

At around 2330 hours, Leeroy came back to the couple’s house and broke in after breaking one of the window panes.

Leeroy assaulted the couple.

He drew a knife and pointed it at the woman’s husband, threatening to kill him.

The husband escaped through the broken window.

Leeroy went on to rape the woman three times, without protection, and disappeared.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case.

“Police are investigating an unlawful entry and rape case in Hopley.

“The accused person was reported to have unlawfully gained entry into the house, assaulted the couple and raped the woman.

“The woman was taken to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital for medical examination,” said Insp Chakanza.
