SLAIN RAPPER AKA WOULD HAVE BEEN 28 YESTERDAY

JOHANNESBURG. — AWARD-WINNING rapper AKA would have been 28 yesterday.

The rapper, whose real name was Kiernan Forbes, was sht deaf outside the Wish restaurant along Florida Road in February two years ago.

His fans, friends and family were yesterday celebrating what would have been his 37th birthday.

They were all paying tribute to the award-winning rapper.

AKA’s friend Chef Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane was also killed that night in Durban.

Lynn Forbes, AKA’s mother, shared an emotional tribute on Instagram remembering the day her first child and son came into the world.

“On this day, at 1:15 in the early morning, I heard your first cry. I felt your warmth as you were placed on my chest.

“Your natural birth, 37 years ago, left me exhausted yet invigorated.

“My tiny baby boy, my first born, Your hands wide open, long legs dangling. 2.75kg, 54cm. So perfect, so full of promise, you left me in awe.

“In that moment, my heart changed forever; you made me a mother. I was yours, and you were mine. A bond unbreakable, an infinite love,” she wrote.

One of the lead singles from AKA’s last project “Mass Country” which was released shortly after his death. The song has 14 899 934 streams on Spotify and has 9.1 million views on YouTube.

Fela in Versace featuring Kiddo

This song has 8 866 014 streams on YouTube and the music video which was highly popular has 16 million views on YouTube.

Jika featuring Yanga

The wedding inspired song has 4 881 178 streams on Spotify and the music video has 16 million views on YouTube.

The World Is Yours

The song has 3 424 687 streams on Spotify and the music video which was shot on one of AKA’s January vacations, his ex-girlfriend Bonang Matheba features on the video. — IOL.
