ZIMBABWE international forward, Silas Songani, believes local football is now well poised for a massive turnaround following another AFCON qualification.
Songani has spent two years at Iceland top division side Vestri and has made 22 appearances this season.
“Qualifying for another ACON is a major milestone because this keeps the country on the international football map,” says Songani.
“Congratulations to the boys for qualifying under difficult conditions. Remember we did not have a home ground but the boys still managed to qualify for next year’s AFCON finals.
“There were challenges along the way but that’s how it is in football.
“What is important is that Zimbabwe will play at the 2025 AFCON finals.”
Morocco will host the 2025 AFCON finals where Zimbabwe will make a sixth appearance.
“Success brings happiness to the nation and the whole country is happy.”
He is expected back home next week for the Christmas break.
“Life is good in Iceland, you can enjoy a lot but one thing that can disturb you is the weather.
“It’s too cold here but kana uripa basa you have to soldier on.
“Most people here speak English so in terms of language I have no problem. I am enjoying my football in Iceland, I do my talking on the pitch since I am not someone who wants to beat his chest.”
