A WOMAN claims that she is now staying at a graveyard after she was evicted by her sister-in-law.
She has now approached the Harare Civil Court seeking a protection order against her sister-in-law.
A protection order was granted to Mary Muchanyarei against Sophia Machena by magistrate Meenal Naratom.
Mary told the court that her sister-in-law evicted her from her house after the death of her husband.
“My sister-in-law is wicked, she told me to leave the house since l have no one to live there for anymore.
“She said I should stay at the graveyard since that is where my family is buried.
“My aunt wanted me to sleep with my late husband’s brother saying that is what tradition demands but l refused.
“Machena is being favoured by the other family members and l have no one on my side to fight for me.
“The family gave me a choice to either to remarry my brother-in-law or to leave their house.
“My belongings were taken to the graveside.”
She said she was now a desperate woman and pleaded with the magistrate to protect her.
Sophia did not deny the allegations which were raised but threatened Mary claiming if she does not marry her brother she has to leave the house.
“You should marry my brother as tradition demands or she goes back to her family.
“I can not force her to choose what she wants but her decision is key to her happiness.”
