AS the curtains open on 2025, local creatives from diverse genres and categories, spanning performing and visual arts, have shared their New Year’s resolutions with Weekender Entertainment.
These ambitious goals are expected to catapult their careers to new heights.
After an eventful 2024, these artistes are optimistic that the New Year will bring fresh opportunities, making 2025 a transformative year for their respective crafts.
Taurai Moyo (Chenhaka Trust)
As we step into 2025, Chenhaka Trust reiterates its dedication to elevating Zimbabwe’s vibrant arts and culture sector.
In 2025, we resolve to champion artistic excellence and innovation, empowering artistes and cultural groups to push boundaries and showcase Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage.
We intend to foster financial stability and sustainability, equipping artistes and cultural organisations with the skills and resources needed to thrive as well as amplify our advocacy efforts, tirelessly campaigning for increased funding and support for the arts and culture sector, recognising its vital contribution to Zimbabwe’s socio-economic development.
We believe it is also an ideal year to facilitate meaningful collaboration and networking among artistes, cultural groups, and stakeholders, bridging gaps and fostering a sense of community and collective purpose.
WaCharie (Afro jazz musician)
My ultimate goal as a musician is to expand my reach significantly and grow my audience by engaging actively with the community through a series of events and concerts.
I firmly believe that music has the power to unite people and drive positive change.
To this end, I am committed to leveraging my platform to address critical issues such as mental health, drug and substance abuse.
Through organising free music therapy sessions, I aim to create an inclusive environment where individuals can find solace, support, and connection.
These community engagement initiatives will raise awareness, provide a safe space for healing, and foster connection among those facing these challenges. To further this mission, I plan to move beyond traditional venues and bars, focusing on organising my own concerts.
This approach will enable me to eliminate barriers between myself and my audience, cultivating a more direct and meaningful connection. By creating spaces where people can come together to celebrate music and its transformative power, I envision a vibrant community centred on growth and collaboration.
Ultimately, my goal is to foster an environment that encourages unity, empowerment, and collective contribution to making the world a better place through the universal language of music.

We will continue to spread the Word of God through the powerful medium of music.
Music has the ability to heal, soothe, inspire, and strengthen souls through its lyrics.
We are grateful for the beautiful year that was 2024, and we appreciate the encouragement and support we received from our followers, new fans, and listeners.
This outpouring of love will undoubtedly propel us to even greater heights.
As the Anti-Drug Abuse and Substance Ambassador for Manicaland, I am committed to leaving no stone unturned in combating this destructive scourge.
I will not lose hope in this battle, and I am heartened by the necessary support, love, and encouragement I receive from various stakeholders, fellow artistes, and others. Together, we will ensure that my mandate is successfully executed.

The past few years have been a steep learning curve in the music industry, and I have come to realise that with perseverance, anything is possible.
First and foremost, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my fans for their unwavering support and generous encouragement.
As I embark on this new year, I am filled with excitement, creativity, and a clear vision for my music career. Having released several singles in the past, I am now set to release my debut full-length album featuring six tracks in 2025.
To keep pace with technology and meet the demands of my fans, I will also be releasing three music videos from the album throughout the year.
My fans have been clamouring for visuals, and I am excited to deliver.
This year, I will be intensifying my marketing and promotion efforts by maintaining a strong online presence through social media, website updates, newspapers, and radio stations.
I will also be collaborating with top musicians, including Leonard Zhakata, Alick Macheso, Obert Chari, Hosiah Chipanga, and Dorcas Moyo. Additionally, I will be attending and performing at industry events, concerts, and festivals to network with fellow musicians, promoters, and industry professionals. You can expect to see me more frequently at live shows, particularly in Mutare and across Manicaland.
I have listened to my fans’ pleas, and I am committed to delivering more live performances.
By dedicating myself to these goals, I am confident that 2025 will be a transformative year for my music career.

We look forward to continuing to shine as a brand. To achieve this, we aim to grow our followership both online and offline. We will increase our international tours, expanding our global reach.
In addition to touring, we will release a new album, albeit slightly delayed due to our international commitments.
We also plan to establish our own recording studio and music academy.
Furthermore, we will increase our visibility in philanthropic efforts, using our platform to make a positive impact and give back to our community.
Keavan Simomondo (Dapurahunanzva Arts Group)
Our ensemble has achieved impressive success in the Chibuku National Competition over the past two years. Looking ahead, our vision includes refining our choreography and technique, perfecting our traditional dances, and incorporating fresh ideas while maintaining cultural authenticity.
Instead of increasing our participation in competitions, we plan to embark on a national tour to enhance our group’s visibility and acceptability.
We also aspire to participate in international cultural arts festivals, showcasing Zimbabwean talent and creating business opportunities for the group and economic empowerment for our artists.
We envision collaborating with other artists, partnering with musicians, poets, or dance groups to create innovative, interdisciplinary performances.
Specifically, we hope to work with renowned artistes like Winky D and Jah Prayzah to elevate our brand.
These goals align with my personal resolutions for 2025. However, my top priority remains the welfare of artistes, not only within my group, but also across the entire arts fraternity.
To address this, I have initiated a project called ARTS (Artist Resting Time Services), a planned funeral and welfare programme. Furthermore, I intend to develop more arts educational programmes, focusing on personal development and growth, to benefit the arts industry as a whole.

This year, I plan to focus on creating more visuals, releasing new singles, and developing engaging video content.
A key priority will be collaborating with diverse artistes to gain wider exposure and expand my fan-base.
Additionally, I intend to release a steady stream of new singles throughout the year.
