Lightning bolt kills 2

TRAGEDY recently hit the Zimunya community after a lightning bolt struck two villagers in Dzobo Village.
The incident happened at Dzobo Dip Tank after a group of villagers sought shelter under a dip tank shade during a sudden rainstorm.
The lightning bolt instantly killed Knowledge Rafemoyo (25) and Jubilant Bakira (10).
Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the incident.
Assistant Inspector Chinyoka said Knowledge and Jubilant were in the company of other three villagers when they were struck by lightning.
โ€œOn January 8 at 4pm, Knowledge, Jubilant, Sign Chikide (nine), Nashel Dodzo (five) and Ashley Manno (nine), all of Dzobo Village, Chief Zimunya sort shelter from rain under a dip tank shade.
โ€œThey were struck by lightning. A report was made to the police at Mutare Rural Police Station who attended the scene.
โ€œKnowledge and Jubilant died on the spot. The other three were taken to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital for treatment, and were admitted.
โ€œSign did not sustain any injuries. Nashel sustained burns on the chest, neck and stomach, and his condition is stable.
โ€œAshely sustained burns on both thighs and his condition is also stable.
โ€œThe dead bodies were taken to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital mortuary for post-mortem,โ€ said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.
The Manicaland police spokesperson urged people to seek safe shelter each time when it is raining.
