MINISTER of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza, is losing sleep over the St Augustine’s turn-off bridge, whose refurbishment plans have been repeatedly stalled at the final hurdle.
As the legislator for Mutasa South Constituency, Minister Mugadza expressed his concerns during a community engagement meeting organized by the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace Mutare in Ward 21 in Mutasa on Tuesday.
He emphasized that despite his best efforts, plans to revamp the bridge continue to hit a brick wall.
The St Augustine’s turn-off bridge issue has become a pressing concern for Minister Mugadza, and he’s determined to find a solution. However, it’s unclear what’s causing the delays or what the next steps will be to address this issue.
“The issue of St Augustine’s turn- off bridge is giving me sleepless nights and endless headaches. I always think about it and the most unfortunate thing is that each time we plan to revamp it, our plans are derailed at the final stage for one reason or the other. I can tell you it only costs around US$93 000 to have a proper structure there,” he said.
CCJP-Mutare under the Zimbabwe Heads of Christian Denominations (ZHOCD) is implementing a devolution project in selected part of Manicaland province, complementing the Government on its devolution and decentralisation framework.
