EX-CONVICT and sungura artiste, Taurai Mwanyisa, is gearing up to release his highly anticipated fourth album, a raw and unflinching sungura project, inspired by life’s trials and tribulations.
Despite its hard-hitting themes, the album is infused with powerful messages of hope and resilience.
Drawing from his own life experiences, Mwanyisa’s upcoming album reflects the personal struggles he has faced, including his time behind bars, and the valuable lessons he learnt along the way.
Mwanyisa revealed that the new album, Kuchema Ndichiseka, set for release in March, will feature six tracks – Handisa Simba, Ndine Munyama, Musavasiyawo, Uswa Hwenyati, and Moyo Wangu Nyarara.
Each track tells a story of perseverance, redemption, and the unwavering belief that even in the darkest moments, there is always a glimmer of hope.
With his signature sungura sound, heartfelt lyrics, and powerful rhythms, the album promises to resonate deeply with listeners who have faced their own struggles, offering a message of hope and inspiration.
The release of Taurai Mwanyisa’s fourth album marks a pivotal moment in his career, showcasing, not only his musical growth, but also his personal transformation.
His authenticity as an artiste and individual has earned him widespread respect and admiration, particularly from fans who have followed his journey since before his incarceration.
Mwanyisa has reassembled his band, Mutape Express, featuring talented musicians, Renias Bhemba and Samson Simango.
This album, he says, is a testament to his resilience and the healing power of music, offering a message of hope to all who listen.
“The album is ready, and we know our fans have been eagerly waiting,” he said, adding: “We have reassembled a passionate and talented band, and my versatility has played a key role in crafting a remarkable project that will inspire many listeners.”
Mwanyisa shared insights into the album’s tracks, highlighting their meaningful themes.
“In Handina Simba, I sing about the power of our Creator, reminding everyone to honour and trust in Him. Ndine Munyama encourages listeners to be cautious about sharing their life experiences, as not everyone will celebrate their success. Musavasiyawo emphasises the importance of compassion, calling on people to include the sick, orphans, widows, and inmates in their daily prayers.
Finally, Uswa Hwenyati is a song about resilience, highlighting that challenges often precede success,” he explained.
Mwanyisa further emphasised that the forthcoming album carries powerful messages of hope, with each track serving as a poignant reminder that no matter the struggles people face, there is always the potential for renewal and growth.
His discography includes notable projects such as Mavambo (2020), Gadziriso (2022), and Hakuna Anogerwa Asipo (2023).
