IRATE parents at Zamba Primary School in Sakubva this morning shut down the school, and demonstrated against the posting of a new deputy headmistress at the school.

The deputy headmistress, a Mrs Gowora, was transferred from Nyamauru Primary School in Dangamvura, and was due to start work today, but parents ordered their children off the school premises, accusing her of practicing satanism.

The Manica Post is currently on the school where placard-wielding parents are singing revolutionary songs, denouncing the deployment of Mrs Gowora. Parents demanded the immediate transfer of Mrs Gowora, saying they are not comfortable with her being at the school.

The school headmaster, a Mr Chigwanda reportedly left the school to report what is transpiring to the Mutare District Education Office.

Parents also barricaded the administration block, and plastered it with placards denouncing the deployment of the new deputy headmistress.

Acting Manicaland Provincial Education Director (PED), Mr Richard Gabaza was not readily available for a comment as he was said to be in a meeting.
