A Zimbabwean woman made a lobola refund after her husband refused to help her with chores despite being unemployed in Australia.
The woman sent an anonymous message on X while contributing to the hot debate on her husband’s reluctance to help with chores after moving to the diaspora.
The gainfully employed woman narrated how her “unhelpful” husband kept bringing up the lobola issue whenever she begged him to help with chores. The hubby did so even though he was not working.
“Tiri muZim, I was a banker. He would provide when he could, vachiita zvavo zvekuswera kumashops, drinking and enjoying every weekend. I would have to take on consultancy roles to make ends meet.
“Chavo kuisa marules, hee ndibikire, I married you, etc.”
The woman completed a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) course and told her husband she was moving to Australia because the financial burden was too much for her in Zimbabwe.
Her husband opposed the proposal, reminding her that he was the man of the house. In response, she asked what he was providing to the family.
The man eventually agreed to the relocation plans.
The woman went first, and he followed later with the children.
In Australia, the man never changed. However, the environment was tough for him.
The woman recounted: “He would refuse to do chores or help with the kids. Arwadziwa as well because life yekungoswera paLondoner/Homeground (pub) haiko kuno. Formal employment was a lot for him because zvechidealer kwanga kusisina. Since I had experience, I was the breadwinner, and I didn’t mind because I always was, but he never wanted to meet me halfway, aibva ati I married you.”
One day, the woman got so frustrated with the constant reminders that her husband had paid lobola that she decided to resolve the issue drastically.
“Ndakazongomupa US$5 000 yacho ndikati mari yawakaroora iyi and this is goodbye from me. I have gained weight and I’m glowing. He is struggling badly, apa I took him to the authorities, so he pays child support.”
She added that her former husband struggles to clean his place or feed and bathe the children when they visit on weekends. Life is so tough for him that he is now begging his ex-wife to take him back. — Wires

Dad in court for injecting daughter with poisonous substance
In an emotionally charged trial, a woman sobbed in court as she questioned her father and her cousin why they had injected her with a poisonous substance, causing her to suffer from a kidney disease and spend eight months in hospital.
Kudakwashe Chabata (74) and Manenji Chipwanya (52) appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Challenge Mahembe facing an assault charge. They pleaded not guilty.
However, after the trial, they were convicted, with each sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, which was wholly suspended on condition they do not commit a similar offence within five years.
In his defence, Chabata said: “I feel disheartened. While I was in the rural areas, where I stay, a relative phoned me and told me that my daughter was very sick. I had to come to Bulawayo and approached a certain man, who helped me with a concoction that I injected into her with the intention of getting her healed. I’m really sorry for that. I didn’t know I had courted trouble for myself.”
In a victim impact statement, Jenniter Chabata (38) said: “After they injected a certain muti into my shoulders, I felt dizzy and I was later rushed to hospital. The doctor diagnosed that I was suffering from a kidney disease. I spent eight months at the hospital.
“And they did not pay for my medical bills. Even now, I feel hurt when I look at them as they put my life in danger and they wanted to kill me. I want them to be jailed.”
Chipwanya expressed remorse during cross-examination and said: “I stayed for a long time without visiting them and now I regret because I thought I was helping her. Lack of knowledge has led me to this problem.”
The court heard that sometime in August, Kudakwashe and Chipwanya went to Jenniter’s home in Harrisvale suburb, Bulawayo, and found her just arriving home.
They grabbed her by her hands before injecting a muti into her shoulders.
After that, the court heard, Jenitter fell sick and was transported to hospital where she was diagnosed with a kidney disease. She spent eight months in hospital. — B-Metro

Landlord locks out tenants, points gun at them
A man from Bulawayo’s Khumalo suburb has been dragged to court for allegedly pointing a gun at his tenants and threatening to kill them.
Zelder Pamala told the court that when she and her husband returned home, they found the doors locked. After knocking, Sweetman opened the window and talked to them.
Pamala said the house owner fumed and pointed a gun at them. Pamala told the court that she requested to fetch her medication, which was in her bedroom, but Sweetman refused to open the door, insisting they had to vacate his residence.
She told the court that after that, she applied for a protection order so that Sweetman would live with them peacefully.
Sweetman was represented by his lawyer. The defence counsel denied all the allegations levelled against his client.
The presiding magistrate, Challenge Mahembe, asked Pamala whether she and her husband were still staying at Sweetman’s home or not, to which she said: “We are no longer staying there but our property is still there.”
The lawyer responded by saying: “Since they were applying for a protection order under the pretext that they were staying together, now that they no longer stay there, the order falls away.”
The magistrate then dismissed the case. — Bulawayo Bureau

Man’s genitals disappear
A woman was assaulted by a mob at the Asaba main market in Delta State, Nigeria, after being accused of causing a young man’s genitals to disappear.
Witnesses reported that the woman was confronted by a man in his 30s, who claimed his manhood vanished following a brief encounter with her.
The mob quickly surrounded her, ordering her to “reverse” the act. Videos of the incident, showing the woman pleading for mercy, have gone viral online.
She stated: “I don’t know how many men have been affected. Any man who touches me or I touch loses his manhood. If I meet the man who prepared the charm for me, he can help reverse it. I don’t have his phone number, but I know where to find him.”
According to the Daily Trust, the woman remains in the custody of the youths while they consider involving the police. — Wires
