Asaph unveils latest single, ‘RunBYO’

BULAWAYO’S hip-hop maestro Asaph has finally unleashed his highly anticipated single, “RunBYO”, a vibrant anthem that embodies the city’s infectious energy.

With this latest release, Asaph proudly represents his hometown, celebrating the unique vibe and rich culture that defines Bulawayo.

In an interview with Sunday Life, he revealed that music is what he loves, so it’s more of a continuation than a comeback.

“I just hadn’t been putting much passion and effort because I had been focused on other things. Now that I’m married and my newborn is growing well, I have new inspiration and motivation to keep creating,” he said.

Asaph explained the meaning behind the title of the album, saying he loves Bulawayo and it’s evident in his lyrics.

“RunBYO is a city anthem reminding myself and the city of why I do what I do. So many people complain about the city being slow and nothing ever making it here, but I have so much pride in this place because it made me who I am today,” said Asaph.

“So the message is representing the city to the best of my ability, celebrating the vibe culture that the city has and hopefully it will catch on to the listen and we can restore pride in the City of Kings,” he said.

Asaph emphasised that RunBYO serves as a playful reminder to his fellow musicians that, despite taking a break for a while, he remains one of the top artistes in the city—not just within the hip-hop genre, but as a prominent figure in the music industry as a whole.

He reflected his message to his fans that they should embody the change they wish to see.

“Imperfections aside, we all have the power to create a better world, music chronicles, my personal journey, with its triumphs and setbacks, aiming to motivate and encourage others to enhance their lives and celebrate their individual experiences,” he said.

He noted that 2025 will be a year of nonstop music, he has already prepared two special releases for his birthday in January and Valentine’s Day on 14 February.

“I’m thrilled to announce that 2025 will be a year of nonstop music, I’m committed to releasing brand new content every month, ensuring my fans have a constant flow of fresh sounds to enjoy,” he said.
