ZIMBABWE international Admiral Muskwe has made a return to action after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, sparking hopes of a potential return to the national team.
Muskwe played his first match in over a year after featuring for his new club Harrogate Town in a League Two game against Salford City on Tuesday.
The striker came on as a second-half substitute, playing 32 minutes of the game.
The appearance was his first since November 2023, when he last played for the Warriors in a friendly match against Lesotho.
Muskwe’s return to action comes after he joined Harrogate Town on a short-term deal following a successful two-week trial with the club.
“I’m delighted to be here and happy to get the deal over the line,” Muskwe said after completing the deal.
“As a player, you always want to go into a team high on confidence. There’s good competition for places here, and everyone is pushing everyone every day to get better.”
Muskwe’s signing is a significant boost for Harrogate Town, who are presently struggling in League Two.
The 26-year-old brings a wealth of experience to the club, having played for Leicester City’s academy and Luton Town in the Championship.
The Zimbabwe international has also represented his country in several international matches, including the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon.
Muskwe has played six matches for the Warriors, scoring twice.
While Muskwe’s return to action may come too late for him to be considered for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, his form and fitness will be closely monitored by Warriors coach ahead of the World Cup qualifiers.
The Warriors’ next assignment is the Afcon finals in Morocco early next year.
On their way to securing qualification, Zimbabwe opened their campaign with two successive 0-0 draws against Kenya and Cameroon in Uganda in September.
They then secured back-to-back wins against Namibia in Johannesburg in October, before drawing their final match to confirm their spot in the finals.
With the qualification, Warriors captain Marvelous Nakamba has joined a select group of captains who have led the Warriors to the Afcon finals, including legendary players Peter Ndlovu, Willard Katsande, and Knowledge Musona.
