CHIWARIDZO Secondary School was awarded the Secretary’s Merit Award for making tangible efforts to improve the learning conditions of pupils.
The school started with only 120 students but Chiwaridzo now has an enrolment of 785 pupils, a flourishing piggery project with 106 pigs, and a roaring poultry project of 200 birds every two-week interval.
The school, which was established in 2015, received the 2021 award that was presented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Moses Mhike.
He presented a plaque and an electronic interactive board with a teacher’s laptop, among other prizes.
He also commissioned the school’s grand entrance.
Speaking at the ceremony, Permanent Secretary Mhike said the school boasts an array of modern amenities, ensuring a conducive learning environment and efficient operations.
“As the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, it is my pleasure to acknowledge the remarkable progress this school has made since its establishment in 2015.
“As we celebrate today, let us remember that education is the foundation upon which our society is built.
“It is the key to unlocking potential, driving progress, and shaping future leaders.
“I would like to use this wonderful opportunity to thank the Head, Mr K.C Nyamweda, the Deputy, staff members, and parents for taking this school to new heights and creating a distinct path for the students to follow.
“To the students, I urge you to continue striving for excellence. Embrace challenges, explore your passions, and become active citizens.
“To the teachers and staff, your tireless efforts have made a lasting impact. Keep inspiring and nurturing young minds. To the school leadership, your vision and guidance have created an environment conducive to success,” he said.
Mhike said the merit award serves as a beacon of inspiration, encouraging other schools to emulate these exemplary standards.
“These cutting-edge facilities and technologies enhance the student’s learning experience and position the school as a leader in education.
“Your commitment to developing the school and providing quality education is truly commendable.
“Chiwaridzo Secondary has demonstrated exceptional performance in academics, sport, arts, and cultural activities as well as hands-on practical learning.
“Your students have consistently shown impressive results in national examinations and your teachers have exhibited innovative ideas and tireless work ethics which have significantly contributed to this school’s success.
“This merit award is a tribute to the hard work and perseverance of the entire school community. It is a testament to almost a decade of dedication, passion and excellence in the education sector,” he said.
