Zanu PF has launched the Heritage Group Trust which seeks to assist war veterans, their children, and the youths through various projects.
The Trust has since come up with proposals for income-generating projects earmarked for the youths this year.
In an interview, Cde Shadreck Chikwanda, who is the national chief research officer for the Trust, confirmed the development.
โHeritage Group Trust was formed to inherit the veterans of the liberation struggle, children of the veterans, and the youths, among others,โ he said.
โThe Trust was legally launched at Zanu PF Headquarters in 2024 with a view of ensuring that the welfare of both fallen and living comrades and their children is well catered for.
โIt aims to jealously safeguard the countryโs legacy and history,โ he said, adding that the Trust will also promote Zimbabwean culture and tradition, as well as foster patriotism.
Cde Chikwanda said they also intend to rebury fallen heroes who have not been given decent burials.
โThere is an estimated figure of around 33 000 fallen heroes who are yet to be reburied years after independence,โ he said.
